Dear violin, viola and cello players,
Are you interested in starting to improvise on your instrument? Have you always wanted to improvise, but didn’t know how to begin? Or are you already improvising, but can’t get out of the same phrases? I will be holding a series of workshops in February and March in Vienna to help you advance your improvisational skills. The workshops follow each other, but you can also participate in just one or several lessons.
What you will learn:
– basics of improvisation
– a few jazz standards, gypsy swing and some traditional tunes
– how to play chords and harmony on your instruments
– how to relax while playing your instrument and how to use it in classical music
– basics of jazz harmony
– basics of jazz language
– techniques (chopping, swing bowing,…)
– how to create your own practice routine
What you need:
– basic technique on your instrument (to be comfortable in the first position on violin or viola or two octaves on cello)
